2-Day workshop list of materials and supplies the attendee must bring:

Materials:

  • 250g – 300g 18 - 20 micron Merino wool tops (a few of your favorite colors)
  • Dyed plant fibers: Ramie (fiber made from nettles), hemp, flax (your favorite colors, 1-2 meters of sliver of each find of fiber)
  • Two or Three meters of Margilan silk gauze fabric (authentic, organic, hand woven, hand dyed; will be available for sale form the instructor, $11 per meter). This is perfect for the innovative techniques of this workshop and allows the creation of complex surfaces in a limited workshop time. It’s not the same with tissue silk or other silk fabric.

Supplies and tools:

 • Bubble wrap enough 6-foot table, plus two additional pieces about 30'' X  30''

 • Watering device (ball brauser) or a squirt bottle of choice

  • Container for water/soap solution (small bucket)
  • Natural liquid soap (clear, biodegradable and eco-friendly dish soap is the best); you can bring your favorite olive soap bar as well, but we will mostly use water/soap solution

 • Pool noodle about 2' long

 • Elastic ties for rolling (stockings or pantyhose)

 • Netting (soft fiberglass mosquito screen material is ideal, synthetic fabric shower curtain is okay); about 1 m X 1 m (2' X  2' or a little bigger)

  • Pen and notebook
  • Permanent marker (Sharpie)

 • Two old bath towels

 • Any favorite felting tools (Palm Wash Board, ceramic felting stone, etc.)

 • Good sharp scissors

  • Small hand mini-carder or metallic dog/cat brush
  • Cheap grocery plastic bag
  • 5-gallon container
  • An “absorber” found at auto supply stores (like a shamey)
